Guided Nature Walks with the AMC

Let a naturalist from the Appalachian Mountain Club introduce you to our area's magnificent flora and fauna as you follow our extensive trail system along the Ammonoosuc River.

You will meet your Appalachian Mountain Club guide at the Activities Concierge Desk located in the Great Hall of The Mount Washington Hotel fifteen minutes prior to the departure of these one-hour tours.

Cost: complimentary to Resort guests.

  • Programs runs from mid-May - mid-October, as conditions permit.
  • Tours depart at 8am & 10am daily.

All schedules and activities are subject to change - please check the daily Bugle at the Activities Concierge Desk. All outdoor programs are weather dependant and take place at the discretion of the Adventure Center Staff. The Adventure Center Staff reserves the right to turn anyone away for health and/or equipment concerns.

Guided Off-Property Adventure Hikes

Come explore the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire with us. Our off-property adventure hikes range from easy to moderate in ability levels, and all participants are required to have appropriate clothing, please see the list of suggested items below. Your Adventure Guide will determine the hike you will be participating on based on weather conditions and the physical ability of the entire group.

You will meet your guide at the Activities Concierge desk, located in the Great Hall of The Mount Washington Hotel, fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled activity. Transportation will be provided to and from trailhead by resort staff. Mileage and times listed below are for round-trip hikes.

Cost: Public $40, Resort Guests $30

  • Mt. Willard, approx. 3.2 miles, 2-2 1/2 hours
  • Arethusa Falls, approx. 2.6 miles, 2 hours
  • Middle Sugarloaf, approx. 2.8 miles, 2-2 1/2 hours
  • North Sugarloaf, approx. 2.4 miles, 2 hours
  • Both Sugarloaf Peaks, approx. 3.4 miles, 2 1/2 hours

Reservations are recommended for this program and can be made at 603-278-8989.

Our off-property Great Adventure hikes are moderately difficult in ability, and all participants are required to have appropriate clothing, please see the list of suggested items below. Your Appalachian Mountain Club guide will determine the hike you will be participating in, based on weather conditions and the physical ability of the entire group.

Participation in the following guided hikes requires moderately advanced fitness levels. Exertion will be moderate to strenuous, and participants will encounter uneven, rocky terrain that will be moderately steep in places.

You will meet your guide at the Activities Concierge Desk located in the Great Hall of The Mount Washington Hotel 15 minutes prior to your scheduled activity. Transportation will be provided to and from trailhead by resort staff. Mileage and times listed below are for round trip hikes.

Age Requirements: 12 and up

Cost: $175 per group (1-6 participants). Additional Guides: $175 per group.

  • Frankenstein/Arethusa Loop, approx. 4.7 miles, 4-5 hours
  • Zealand Falls, approx. 5.4 miles, 4-6 hours
  • Mt. Pierce, approx. 6.2 miles, 6-7 hours

Space is limited and reservations are required for this program and may be made by calling 603-278-8989. Reservations for this activity must be made at least two weeks prior to the requested hike date.
