Annual Salute to Freedom at Bretton Woods

It’s the Fourth of July and the Omni Mount Washington Resort and Spa wants YOU to come and celebrate, with a three day weekend filled with spirited fun for all! Wave your American Flag as you enjoy delicious food prepared by our chefs, participate in our daily activities and simply enjoy time with family and friends. The excitement never stops, with our annual rubber duck race, an epic water balloon fight and of course the fireworks display! This will be a weekend of memories that you soon won’t forget.

Please make your reservations in advance as this tends to be a popular weekend to visit!

Last Hope to Freedom Scavenger Hunt 

Someone has stolen the declaration of independence! Use your wit to help Thomas Jefferson find it! Follow the clues left behind from the suspect and let freedom ring.  
Red, White & Blue Craft Room 

Show your pride as you decorate an Uncle Sam hat or a Lady Liberty crown, there will be an assortment of festive crafts and fun for the whole family to enjoy! 
Pie Eating Contest
Stuff your face with delicious pie; it doesn’t get more American than that! Do you have what it takes to scarf down a whole pie before your competitors do? Prizes will be awarded. Limited pies available, first come first serve.  
Sweet Social: Ice Cream Sundae Bar

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! A perfect treat for a hot summers afternoon. We encourage you to dive into a large bowl of ice cream and get crazy with your toppings… gummy bears, chocolate chips, chocolate sauce, whip cream and more! $10 per sundae.  
Family Style Mountain Yoga

Family yoga is a fun, joyful, and peaceful way to move together mindfully. Family yoga begins with thoughtfully tuning in, followed by a fun, mindful, playful and meditative practice that included partner poses and group poses. All levels are welcome. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting the Activities Concierge desk at 603-278-8989. $25 per person. 
Family Face Painting
Are you ready to add a splash of color and sparkle to your evening? Enjoy traditional face painting with the talented Monica Leo. This is a complimentary activity for guests of the resort; it is a first come first serve.

Children’s Planetarium Program
Join Carthage College professor of physics and astronomy Douglas Arion for an adventure into the wonders of the Universe in the planetarium! See the sky and explore the beautiful patterns of stars we see at night. There will be two entry times, one at 5:00pm and another at 5:30pm, space is limited. 
Wildlife Encounters
Globe trot jungles, deserts and mountains as we meet and learn about some of the world’s most amazing animals. Explore their habitats; learn what they eat and where they come from. Get up close and personal with these exotic creatures, get acquainted with their keepers and learn what it takes to maintain their happiness. 
Stargazing and Lecture
Dr. Douglas Arion, Director of the Carthage Institute of Astronomy and Professor of Physics and Astronomy, will give a presentation on the intricate and fascinating connections between life on Earth and the history and phenomena of the Universe around us. Learn about the amazing sequence of events that led to the formation of the solar system and the Earth, and how we have come to understand what we are and why we are here. Following the presentation, weather permitting, there will be observing through telescopes.  
Evening Movie
Lounge around after an adventurous day. Get cozy as you watch a movie that the whole family will enjoy.

Star Spangled Blast and Dash
This is a 5k course that you can walk or run as your favorite fans cheer you on. Bring your spirit and show your pride with an outrageous red, white and blue outfit!

Lindsay and Her Puppet Pals – “Larger Than Life Variety Show” 

Lindsay brings her larger than life Puppet Pals to children and family audiences across New England. Filled with silliness, audience engagement, and unique memorable characters, this series of charming short stories will delight the young and the young at heart! 

Annual Rubber Duck Race
Our annual rubber duck race has become a must see event at the Omni Mount Washington Resort. Join us as we release hundreds of ducks into the Ammonoosuc River. Will your duck paddle its way to the finish line first? Sign ups will start at 11am at the Princess Bridge where you can choose from an assortment of themed ducks. The ducks will be dropped in the river promptly at 11:30am.

Battle of Wettysburg
Pick a side and try and stay dry in this Civil War themed water balloon fight. Who will win the battle and rule the Resort grounds! The balloon fight will begin promptly at 1:00pm. We ask participants to arrive on the Ammonoosuc lawn to decide teams by 12:45pm.

Can you get five in a row and shout “BINGO!” A sweet treat for all the winners!

S’mores and Singing by the Fire with Mark Dionne
Gooey marshmallows, melted chocolate, crunchy graham crackers, and plenty of laughs are to be had by the fire. Enjoy a sing-along to classic campfire songs that will bring back the memories of summer camp.   
Art in the White Mountains
A slide show and conversation about the ways our White Mountains inspire painters, photographers, poets, and you. Join poet Jeff Zygmont – author of White Mountain Poems and More White Mountain Poems – as he shows examples of paintings, photographs, and more, created by prominent White Mountain artists at work today. The artworks illustrate Jeff’s discussion about how these peaks that surround us inspire the artists, and how those artists convey that inspiration to you.
