Ski Racing & Seasonal Programs

More than competition, Bretton Woods’ seasonal programs help young skiers build a rock-solid foundation in a safe, fun, and motivating environment. Our club trains for and competes in NHARA and USSA-sanctioned events weekly and on select days during school vacations. Beyond racing, our program fosters a strong sense of community with team gatherings, awards, and friendships that grow both on and off the mountain.

    • Ages for all programs are based on skiers’ age as of 12/31/2025.
    • All participants must have a Bretton Woods season pass or day ticket to participate each day.
    • All participants are required to wear a helmet. U12 and older racers must have an FIS-approved helmet (no soft ears).
    • Recommended equipment U12 and older: GS skis, SL skis, SL protection gear, GS suit.
    • All athletes competing in races must have USSA and NHARA membership.

U8 "Little Rippers" Program

Designed for young skiers to build confidence, learn core skiing fundamentals, and experience all types of terrain. Kids progress in age- and skill-appropriate groups through a mix of free skiing, guided exploration, and a first look at racing through gates.

U10 Program

Skiers take their first steps into the world of racing with a program that keeps fun at the center. Athletes focus on safety, developing solid skiing habits, and building confidence across varied terrain. They are introduced to gates in a playful, encouraging way while learning the fundamentals of racing tactics.

U12 Program

Skiers build on their foundation by refining ski fundamentals and adapting to more complex terrain. Training emphasizes proper line tactics for both GS and SL, with athletes starting to understand how different courses demand different approaches. Race preparation routines are introduced to instill focus, consistency, and readiness on competition days.

U14 Program

Athletes continue to grow with a healthy balance of free skiing, targeted drills, and structured gate training. While fun, safety, and strong fundamentals remain at the core, the focus expands to more advanced GS and SL tactics, sharpening race preparation routines and building a deeper understanding of strategy, positioning, and performance under pressure.

U19 Program

Training is tailored to individual goals and development needs, ensuring every skier is progressing toward their potential. Athletes are introduced to the Super-G (SG) event, expanding their skills across a broader range of racing disciplines. The program not only prepares them for competition, but also fosters discipline, resilience, and confidence that extend beyond the racecourse.

Edge 2 Edge Program

This program delivers all the training and competition opportunities of our full Alpine Competition Team, but with a schedule built for today’s fast-paced lifestyle. Athletes choose either Saturday or Sunday as their training day, while still competing in NHARA and USSA-sanctioned events. They also gain access to training every day during vacation and holiday weeks. With Edge 2 Edge Racers, your teen stays on track with their skiing development, experiences the thrill of competition, and enjoys all the benefits of team camaraderie without the full weekend commitment.

Trailblazers

Trailblazers is the ultimate seasonal program for youth skiers ready to push their limits and discover their full potential on the slopes. Designed to build confidence and skills, this program takes athletes across every type of terrain Bretton Woods has to offer. Participants challenge themselves and their friends on the Race the Gates course, explore the mountain with experienced coaches, and enjoy the freedom of skiing in a fun, supportive environment. Trailblazers is where growth meets adventure, giving young skiers the foundation to take their abilities as far as they want to go.

The minimum skiing ability for participants is “Blue Zone Skier” as described by the Bretton Woods Ski School.

TGIF Race League

Sharpen your skills on the slopes, connect with fellow racers, and enjoy some friendly competition all season long with the TGIF Race League. Designed for racers 10 and older, the league is open to both individuals and teams of up to seven people. Members receive a Friday season pass to Bretton Woods, valid Fridays throughout the 2025–2026 season. Sign-up deadline is December 31, 2025, and the season starts January 9, 2026.

Seasonal Program FAQs

  • Our programs are open to skiers between the ages of 6 and 18, based on their age as of December 31, 2025. Each program is designed to match ability levels and goals, from Little Rippers to competitive U19 athletes.

  • Every participant must have a valid Bretton Woods season pass or day ticket for each training day. Helmets are required—FIS-approved helmets for U12 and older. Racers in USSA or NHARA events need current memberships with those organizations.

  • Full payment is due at booking. Cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance are fully refundable. Within 48 hours, reservations are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. If Bretton Woods cancels due to weather or unforeseen conditions, you’ll receive a refund or the option to reschedule.

  • Most programs operate from early December through mid-March, with regular weekend sessions and additional training during school vacation weeks. Edge 2 Edge participants can choose either Saturday or Sunday as their main training day to fit busy schedules.

  • These programs go beyond racing. They combine skill-building, teamwork, and community, giving young athletes the chance to grow as skiers and individuals. With professional coaching from a former Olympian, fun on-mountain experiences, and a supportive team culture, each program helps athletes build confidence and a lifelong love of the sport.
