Bretton Woods Forecasted Snow Report for Wednesday, April 1st, 2026
Riding the Spring Wave: We are starting the new month with some classic April energy as we navigate a truly dynamic weather day. Since the temperatures will refuse to dip below freezing tonight, the snowpack is staying soft, heavy, and full of that forgiving “corn” character we love this time of year. While the morning may start with some damp rain showers, we are expecting partial clearing by the afternoon, which should turn the mountain into a massive, soft-slush playground. With a high of 50 hitting early in the day before a cooling trend kicks in, the snow will be at its most playful and surfy, offering a great chance to slash through the spring mash without a care in the world.
Operational Summary: Please keep in mind that we are continuing our adjusted operating hours through Friday, which means lifts will close at 3:30 PM tomorrow. Plan your laps early to make the most of the daylight! The West Mountain Express remains on its mid-week hiatus, but for those with the grit to hike, the trails over there are open and waiting with some of the best ungroomed spring corn on the map. We expect active Northwest winds tomorrow, reaching 15-25 at the summit, so stay prepared for a bit of a breeze as those clouds begin to break.
Safety & Tips: Spring slush can be a bit of a workout for the legs, so take frequent breaks and stay hydrated as the temperatures climb. With the morning rain giving way to afternoon sun, high-contrast lenses are a must to help you spot the difference between fast-moving segments and “grabby” wet patches. As the mountain cools down toward the evening, the surface may begin to firm up slightly, so keep an eye on changing textures. Most importantly, ensure your spring wax is fresh to avoid that mid-trail suction. And as always, skip the window and grab your tickets online in advance for the smoothest start to your April.
-
For Wednesday, April 1: Expect morning rain showers to give way to partial clearing in the afternoon. Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy overnight.
The base will reach a high of 50°F (7:00 AM) before cooling down to a low of 29°F as the day progresses. The summit will also hit a high of 50°F early, eventually dropping to a low of 27°F. Winds will be active from the Northwest at 8–16 mph at the base (gusts to 20 mph) and 15–25 mph at the summit.
