Bretton Woods Morning Snow Report for Thursday, January 8th, 2026
Four Inches of Fresh! The recent storm provided a nice layer of powder on top of our groomed terrain, which our groomers promptly integrated into an already solid snowpack. While we’re keeping an eye on the warmup heading into the weekend, today is all about those prime Machine Groomed / Packed Powder conditions. Want to see it for yourself before you drive up? The Summit Webcam is now LIVE, so you can scope the conditions from your desk!
Operational Summary: Thursday we will have 6 lifts which start spinning at 9:00 AM. We will be skiing and riding on a Machine Groomed / Packed Powder surface. Our top tier groomers will be out overnight laying down some corduroy for your skiing pleasure.
Mountain Notes: Powder stashes can be found on the lower portion of Bode’s and McIntyre’s which can be accessed from the Gondola via Two Miles Home. If you’re looking to dive into the trees, the Stickney Glades are wide open and accessible via Telegraph Traverse. It’s the perfect day to explore those new stashes. Note— that our snowmaking teams are taking a break during this warmup period and the Midway Terrain Park is also being revamped and will be closed through this week. We also have staggered lift closing times: the West Mountain Express and Red-Carpet spin from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM, while all other lifts including the Gondola, BEQ II, Zephyr, and LCQ remain open until 4:00 PM.
Plan Your Day: Fresh snow, quiet trails, and no lift lines. it doesn’t get much better. To lock in the best rates and skip the ticket window lines, make sure to book your tickets, rentals, and lessons online before you head up. Grab your gear, check the webcam, and we’ll see you at the summit!
For today, Thursday, January 8: Expect AM cloudiness to break for afternoon sunshine, with mainly clear skies following tonight. A strong temperature inversion is forming, meaning the summit will actually feel warmer than the base! The base will reach a high of 34°F (2:00 PM) after a chilly low of 18°F, while the summit holds steady at a comfortable 30°F. Winds will be light and manageable, blowing NW-W under 6 mph at the base and 8–16 mph at the peak. With the inversion in play, the summit is the place to soak up that “warmer” mountain air.
