Bretton Woods Travel Guide

Your Entry to Adventure in the White Mountains

Nestled in the heart of the White Mountains, Bretton Woods is a four-season destination where outdoor fun has no off season. From seasonal scenic gondola rides and award-winning golf, to tranquil forested Nordic trails and the best alpine grooming in the East, discover just how much is found here in our neck of the woods.

Travel Tips

  • Any time! Bretton Woods offers something to do in all four seasons:

    • June–September: Best time for golf, ziplining, and enjoying the New Hampshire summer weather.
    • September–October: Peak fall foliage and ideal hiking conditions.
    • December–March: Best time for skiing and snowboarding and winter canopy tours.
    • November, April–May: Best for enjoying the quiet New Hampshire shoulder season. (Note that some seasonal activities and restaurants may be limited at this time.)
  • The weather in the White Mountains is notorious for changing without warning, especially at higher elevations. When hiking, be sure to plan ahead by packing extra layers, including waterproof outerwear and comfortable footwear. If you plan on golfing during your visit, please help us keep the course looking sharp. Collared shirts, golf slacks or shorts, and soft-spike shoes are the standard. We kindly ask that denim, tank tops, and gym wear be left off the course.

  • Choose from a range of accommodation options as unique as Bretton Woods itself:

    • Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa: A classic grand hotel and steeped in history, offering breathtaking views of the Presidential Range.
    • Omni Bretton Arms Inn: A smaller, cozier alternative nestled within the resort’s grounds, with a classic bed-and-breakfast feel.
    • The Townhomes at Bretton Woods: Furnished two to five-bedroom vacation homes with full kitchens, fireplaces, and private decks.
