Ski & Snowboard Lessons

Learning to ski or snowboard can be a life-changing experience. Join countless others who have taken their first slide through a lesson with a Bretton Woods instructor. From group lessons to private lessons, many of our professional instructors are PSIA and AASI certified, bringing you the highest quality standardized instruction. Whether you're first stepping into a pair of boots or you're looking to dial in and build on your current skill set, our instructors are ready to provide a more personal and tailored lesson experience for your needs. And trust the pros, learning from friends and family can often be problematic because of comforts in the relationship and lack of instructional knowledge.

We offer private lessons for up to four people who want to learn together. Returning this season our group ski lessons for children ages 4-10. Lessons are available for skiing and snowboarding.

Are ski school lessons available this season?

Yes. We offer private lessons for both children and adults along with a semi-private option for family and/or friends to have a lesson together. On Fridays and Saturdays we offer morning and afternoon half-day group lessons for ages 4-10 years old. 

Are the Hobbits and Babes in the Woods programs available this year?

These two programs will not operate in the same way that they have in years past. We offer children ages 4 years and older, private and semi-private. On Fridays and Saturdays, we offer morning and afternoon half-day group lessons for children 4-10 years-old.

Can I get a group lesson for my children?

 

We offer a 2-hour group lesson for ages 4-10 years-old starting at 10:00am and again at 1:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays and select holidays.

 

Do lessons include rentals and tickets?

 

Lessons do not include rentals and tickets. You can purchase these in advance online on the Bretton Woods E-store.

Are you offering the race competition programs? 

Yes, we are offering all (U8 through U18) of our competition programs for the 2022-23 season as well as the Edge 2 Edge Race program and the new Trailblazers program for those young skiers looking to develop all around ski skills. 

Are you offering Adult Seasonal Programs this year? 

No, Bretton Woods is not offering Adult Seasonal Programs this season.

Are equipment rentals available this season?

Yes, ski and snowboard rental equipment are available this season as well as snowshoes, Nordic equipment and Fat Bikes. All rental equipment must be purchased in advance online and will be available on the Bretton Woods E-store.

Do I have to wear a mask during the lesson?

Masks are not required while outdoors but are recommended. If you would like your instructor to wear a mask, please ask and they will accommodate you. 

Is a gratuity for my instructor included?

 

Gratuity is not included.  If you appreciate the service, you receive it’s at your discretion.  

 

What is my level of skiing or riding?

Skiers

Red Zone: 

  • This may be my first time on skis.
  • I am working on the basic movements of skiing

Green (Learning Center Quad):

  • I am stopping and turning on the easiest Green trails.
  • Learning Center Green skiers must be able to ski in a wedge and stop on the easiest Green trails.

Green (Mountain):

  • I am comfortable on all green trails working on basic turns.
  • Starting to match skis at the end of the turn.
  • Mountain Green skiers must be able to ski in a wedge on all green trails on the mountain.

Blue Zone:

  • I am skiing parallel on blue trails.
  • I am challenging myself with some black trails.

Black Zone: 

  • I am comfortable skiing parallel on all black trails.

Snowboarders

Red

  • First time on a snowboard. Have been on a board previously but still working on connecting turns.

Green

  • Can make heel-side and toe-side turns, control speed and stop.

Blue

  • Can link heel-side and toe-side turns with controlled speed and good form.

Black

  • Can ride all types of terrain utilizing twisting and tilting the board, freestyle tricks, and/or carving.
